The Library's instruction program aims to help students, faculty and staff become more aware of library resources and learn how to locate needed information in any available format.

Librarians are available to conduct research workshops or library tours designed to meet the needs of a specific course or assignment. Request a class.

Workshops and Tours

The library offers a variety of free workshops and tours to ensure your research skills are up-to-date. Fall 2008 workshops include topics such as: Library Research, Web Research, Citation, Google, GPS, Newspapers and much more. Find out more and register for a workshop.

Research Guides and Tutorials

The library staff has put together a series of research guides and tutorials to assist researchers. Print, video and self-guided onlineguides and tutorials are available covering subjects such as: how to perform research at the university level, how to use STARS (the library catalog), how to use Galaxy (SBU's article search tool), APA and MLA citation formats, and specialized searching in specific databases.
