The Stony Brook University Music Library:

bullet  serves a diverse population of patrons, including students, faculty, staff, community members, music teachers and members of local performance organizations

bullet  maintains a variety of collections, including printed scores, books, journals, manuscript facsimiles, microforms, compact discs, audio cassettes, LPs, videocassettes, DVDs, CD-ROMs and reel-to-reel recordings

bullet develops its collections in support of the teaching and research activities of the Music Department, especially in the areas of performance, history, theory, composition and pedagogy

bullet  was originally located on the second floor of the Melville Library, from 1972 until 2001, when it was extensively renovated and moved to the first floor, northwest wing of the Library

bullet  consists of a Reading Area, a Listening Area with 50 carrels, a Periodicals Area, a Seminar Room and stacks area

bullet  is a depository for recordings of Music Department recitals, concerts and other events

bullet  provides services including reference assistance and bibliographic instruction
